Bear Lake 2010

Each year we take a weekend and go to Bear Lake and hope that we don't freeze. Last year we did, literally, but this year we lucked out. We went over Labor Day weekend and had great weather. A little on the cool side but the sky was clear and the sun felt wonderful! We started the weekend at the Pickleville Playhouse where we saw Crazy For You. (IT WAS AMAZING!), and then we spent Saturday at the beach enjoying some boating and playing on the jet skis. That night my brother took us up above the city we were staying in (Paris, ID) into the foothills on the 4-wheelers we took up. The view was unbelievable. The picture doesn't do it justice! You could see all the way from Montpellier to the north shore of Bear Lake. Paris below looked like a place in a painting. I love this sleepy old town. It must truly run through my blood. (My great, great, great, great, grandfather was Charles C. Rich the apostle who settled the Bear Lake valley and created the town of Paris. So I have a great love for this little city.) Then we came home to roast marshmallows and make smores (using sticks form the willow tree since the roasting sticks were missing. It made them all the better!) I think Paisley ate about 8 marshmallows herself. After we went to church Sunday morning, we went back out to the lake to relax, but we really just froze in the windy sunshine. By Monday morning, we woke up to VERY cold weather. We enjoyed burgers and famous Raspberry shakes (yes, we were dressed in jeans and sweatshirts freezing--but it was worth it!) on the way home. Sorry for all the pictures, but I posted them all so that my mom and sister and her family can see what we did. We missed you Mom, Kelli, Woodie, Jackson and baby Anna Belle. Let's hope we can all be together next year!

Roasting some GOOD Smores!

Ya, she got her fill.

Overlooking the Valley. Paris is just behind us.

It was just a little COLD!

But not too cold to play in.

Paisley's first boating ride. She was so excited to ride on the tube!
